Not free, so much as “zero down, and hope you have excess power to sell to the electric company”. But if you’re in a sunny enough location, with high enough utility rates (California leaps to mind, or a commercial location in Colorado), it could conceivably end up being free, or even profitable, as advertised.

I am working on API docs in Doxygen these days, and using it to produce HTML and PDF docs. The goal is zero post-processing, so I’m getting way too involved in LaTeX to make that happen. Herewith, the reference material I keep coming across in my searches.

Definitely thought-provoking. The comments are mostly worth reading. Look for Nick Aubert’s comment on people missing the point of a liberal-arts education and its accompanying “shared viewpoints”.

Now that I am peripherally involved in a technician-type education program (lab instructor for EMT classes), I can see some elements of my own education that are lacking in this vocational education. Sridhar has a brilliant idea, here; the trick is figuring out how to tweak it, or supplement it elsewhere in the person’s life, to make sure that the “work basics” aren’t all they end up with.
